Mediterranean Cruises

Some of the world’s best beaches, castles, estates, and museums are located in the Mediterranean.  The ports are close together in the Mediterranean so your cruise often includes several European countries. Eastern Mediterranean cruises include Greece, Turkey, and Italy.  Western Mediterranean cruises include Spain, France, and Italy.  Taking a cruise is one of the most economical ways of seeing Europe.

As far as seeing the sights, you may choose to go on the organized tours by the ship or go on a tour of a local tour contractor in the country you are visiting. Some interesting places to visit on a Mediterranean cruise include the French Riviera, Monaco, Cannes (France), Monte Carlo (Monaco), Nice (France), St. Tropez (France), Villefranche-Sur-Mer (France), Athens (Greece), Mykonos (Greece), Rhodes (Greece), Santorini (Greece), Civitavecchia and Rome (Italy), Venice (Italy), Portugal, Spain, and Turkey.

As with any visit to a foreign country, try to learn the customs of the country concerning tipping and acceptable clothing styles.  You will not be admitted to many attractions unless you are dressed appropriately.

Unlike other cruises, Mediterranean cruises often depart from one port and return to another port, so make your travel arrangements accordingly. Be sure to check time changes for differing time zones so you do not miss your flights or ship departures.  Allow plenty of time for security checks.  Check currency used in the countries you plan to visit and have some cash with you when you tour the country.
